ML Gardening began in May 2023. I’m in business on my own providing much needed basic gardening jobs such as lawn mowing, strimming and hedge trimming. Most of the jobs I do are short focused tasks usually completed in 2 to 4 hour slots. But you can book me for longer. Currently, customers tend to block book but I’m also happy to do one off jobs. If necessary, I can visit you in order to pre-inspect your garden and quote for the work.

Wild flower meadow

Most customers now prefer some wilded areas in their gardens such as mini-wild flower meadows. And many prefer to follow a “no-mow May” philosophy, often extending into June. I’m fully in favour of these ideas and always try as far as possible to garden in a way which enhances and supports the natural wildlife that exists in any particular garden.

The basic gardening chores that I offer follow the seasons. Although there’s no doubt that talking to my gardening colleagues, global warming has impacted on the timing of these basic jobs. For example, it is not unusual now to be mowing lawns right into December. And some lawns need to be mowed from February!

Mowing

Currently, I carry out a range of mowing tasks from mini-tractor mowing large lawns to using small electric mowers to regularly cut a micro-lawns. Most customers like me to use their equipment but I’m happy to bring my own mowers to carry out the job. Unless specifically asked, I try to follow the “one third rule” when cutting the grass because I’ve seen the negative results of aggressively cutting lawns, especially in early spring. Strimming

Most of the strimming I do at the moment involves using customers’ equipment which has been purchased with a particular garden type in mind. But I’m happy to use my own. Sometimes, if lawns are not cut early enough in March, they may require a light strim before it is possible to do the first cut of the year. Find out more or contact me for a quote!

Hedge Trimming

I have been asked to trim a range of hedges from evergreen to deciduous. Obviously, I am particularly careful around the nesting season and I will not carry out hedge trimming if there is any risk of disturbing nesting birds. Whilst I will handle most hedges, it is often important for me to take a look at the hedge first before agreeing to the job.
